How to make Chicken Gizzards with Rice

Oh yes! Another quick and delicious southern comfort meal. Today I show you how I make Chicken Gizzards in a delicious gravy base to serve over your choice of rice. This dish could also easily be modified to cook in a Crock Pot or Pressure Cooker. We want to make sure that we cook these Gizzards until they are nice and tender. Keep on reading and I’m going to show you how simple it is to create this dish start to finish.

Here is what you’ll need

1 Medium Yellow Onion

1 Medium Red Pepper and 1 Medium Green Pepper

2 Cloves of fresh Garlic

12 ounces of Chicken Stock

2-4 Lbs of Chicken Gizzards. Also – be sure to remove all fat and yellow tissue from the meat. Again, we are going to cook this until it’s completely fork tender. Tip: Pre season your Chicken Gizzards and let them sit in a bowl in your refrigerator half an hour prior to cooking.

1/2 Teaspoon of table Salt

1 1/2 Teaspoons of black Pepper

1 1/2 Teaspoons of Poultry Seasoning

1 Teaspoon of Tyme

1 Teaspoon of Rosemarry

In a Dutch Oven pot or large pot, saute your onions, garlic and pepper in vegetable oil. Next, add in your Chicken Gizzards to start the browning/searing process. Pour in your carton of chicken stock into the pot. Bring your pot up to a medium heat and cook for 2 hours or until fork tender. Serve over white rice and enjoy.

Tried this today and it was so very good. My husband usually hates gizzards and he even ate them right up. Very simple recipe that will be added to my monthly rotation. Thank you!
